Jeanie Pierce is a native of Montana receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the
University of Montana in Missoula where she studied with Prof. Maggie Schuberg. After
graduation, Jeanie resided in Great Falls, Montana where she taught at the College of
Great Falls and maintained a large private flute studio. Jeanie was the principal flutist of
the Great Falls Symphony, the Great Falls Municipal Band, and was a member of the
Chinook Winds Woodwind Quintet.

Jeanie Pierce received a Master of Music degree from the University of New Mexico in
Albuquerque where she studied with Dr. Tadeu Coelho (currently flute professor at the
North Carolina School of the Arts). Jeanie was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UNM
and also maintained a private flute studio. Jeanie was a regular performer on the
Albuquerque Flute Association's
Flutist Showcase recitals.

Jeanie Pierce received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University
where she studied with Dr. Trygve Peterson and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
Jeanie continues to make her home in Phoenix, Arizona where she works as a
professional flutist and teacher.

Jeanie is currently on the faculty of BASIS Scottsdale where she directs the high school
and middle school instrumental and vocal ensembles and teaches music history and
theory. Prior to joining BASIS, Jeanie was an instructor at Estrella Mountain Community
College where she taught Music History and Literature classes in classical, jazz, and
popular music. At EMCC, Jeanie regularly organized arts events and educational
programs focusing on cultural diversity and social awareness. Her programs included

Music for Humanity: A Benefit Concert for the People of China and Myanmar, Music In
Our World: A Performance and Lecture Series, World AIDS Day Musical Tribute,
and
Celebrating New Orleans: The Cultural Diversity of Jazz.
As a flute teacher, Jeanie
teaches private lessons throughout the Phoenix-metro area as well as online via web
cam. She has also held flute teaching positions at the PLACe Music Academy and the
Arizona Community School of Music.

As a performer, Jeanie has held positions as the principal flutist with professional and
community bands and orchestras as well as numerous chamber groups. She is currently
the principal flutist with the Musica Nova Orchestra of Scottsdale and past principal of
the Chandler Symphony Orchestra where she was regularly featured as a soloist. She
actively performs throughout the Phoenix-metro area as a soloist and chamber musician.
She has also performed at the National Flute Association Conventions in Anaheim, San
Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

Jeanie is an active member of the Arizona Flute Society having served on their Board of
Directors, as Membership Chair, Coordinator of their Young Artist Festival and
Competition, Director of the Coyote High School Flute Choir, and member of the Flute
Choir Committee. She also maintains active memberships in the National Flute
Association, College Music Society, .Arizona Music Educators Association, and MENC.
